Jasiah Powers’ ‘TELFAR Project’ by Jaadyn Rogers

TELFAR, the globally-known unisex luxury bag brand by Telfar Clemens, has transcended fashion to form a community for all Black people. The iconic TELFAR logo and flagship “shopping bag” has grown to be beloved by millions globally, but TELFAR’s influence and appreciation in Black culture as a Black-queer-owned fashion label singlehandedly made it globally renowned and defines its existence as a highly desirable brand. Through fierce community support, TELFAR was able to produce a worldwide community whose lifestyle needs it knows and could intimately cater to.

This past July, Jasiah Powers' visual project “Telfar Project” turned out Black youth from across NYC decked in their TELFAR—bags, bottoms, belts, shirts, durags, shoes, you name it— to show that TELFAR is a cultural staple and community here to serve us, by us.

NUNAR photographer Jaadyn Rogers was there to capture the drip and the joy from the gathering.
